Customisation without engineering compromise
At Herholdt Controls, customisation is not a product variant. It is specification-driven engineering. We start from your system architecture and design the meter as a fully coherent module within your electrical and electronic ecosystem. We analyse load curves, accuracy classes, measurement dynamics, environmental conditions, integration constraints, and regulatory requirements. The outcome is not an adapted meter, but a device engineered to operate precisely within your defined operational envelope.
Structured co-engineering, not simple configuration
The process is technical and methodical. Functional and non-functional requirement analysis, electrical specification definition, measurement architecture design (analog front-end, ADC selection, sampling strategy), firmware engineering, communication protocol definition, and system integration logic.
Every technical decision is validated against performance targets, long-term stability, EMC compatibility, and compliance standards. This is a dialogue between engineering teams, driven by data and validation, not commercial compromise.
Hardware, firmware, communication: every layer is customisable
Customisation is not limited to selecting a protocol or modifying an enclosure. It means intervening at the architectural level of the device itself: adapting the electronic design to real load conditions, correctly dimensioning insulation and thermal behaviour, and optimising firmware performance according to the required integration logic.
We can start from a validated platform and deeply modularise it, or develop a fully bespoke solution from the ground up. In both cases, the objective is the same: to ensure the meter becomes a native part of your system architecture, not an external component that needs to be managed or compensated for.
Customise Your Energy Meter
Select an option
From basic functionalities to high performance
Tariffs inputs
A link to the grid is made with tariff management (T1 & T2).
Two configurable pulse output
They can report: import & export energy, active & reactive energy or T1 & T2.
Permanent backlighted display
On the new meters with extended temperature range (70°C), the display is always readable in dark conditions (FVCS).
Infrared port
A lateral connection for modular communication modules.
Integrated resistor for Modbus
120 Ω integrated resistor to activate the termination on the last meter of a Modbus network.
Ideal for local energy production
The meters measure imported & exported energy.
Password setting
Administrator can protect meter settings with a password.
Measurements
The meters measure active & reactive energy, power, voltage and current.
Single-phase and three-phase meters direct connected and with external current transformers are suitable for most applications in all countries with European standards.

Beside the available built-in communications (M-Bus, Modbus, Modbus TCP/IP, CAN, CANopen), Herholdt Controls offers also modular communication modules that can be combined via IR interface with the meter (KNX, LAN-TCP/IP, Wireless M-Bus, Modbus, M-Bus and LoRaWAN).
Explore Communication productsWith the CAN and CANopen communication, the extended temperature range meters (up to 70°C) and the new DC meter, Herholdt Controls focuses on up to date applications trends like Energy Storage, Local Electricity Production, Heating & Cooling and E-mobility.
The Herholdt Controls team is willing to offer to its customers the opportunity to customize almost 100% of the meters.
